Camper, period: 1950-1960 (1957-1962)

My sister and I went to Camp Lohikan from 1957-1962. It`s great to be able to “visit“ the old campsite and Lake Como on your website. My son Dan is a bluegrass musician in New York City. He recently cut his first professional CD and one of the tracks is about Calicoon, NY, one of the towns we used to stop at on out annual canoe trips down the Delaware with Vi Volpe. My regards to the Buynak family - I remember Mark very well. We raised our two children in Boston, or I would have had them keep up the Lohikan tradition. Keep up the good works.

Camper, period: 1950-1960 (1950`s-1960`s)

Hello to everyone who remembers Camp Como in the late 50`s and early 60`s. Times were great and friendships were greater. Great times with Mike and Arlene and Flo, Jo and Vi, Jack Cashman, Libby Lee, Joe Weselberg and all of our great counselors. Do any of you remember Jack Blum? He later became a top economic advisor to Bill Clinton. I had so much fun at Lohikan that I sent my son, Jon, many years later. He was both a camper and a counselor. My daughter Allison also worked there as a counselor. If any alumni are out there from the50`s and 60`s, please send me an e-mail. I would love to hear from you.

Yapalater Deirdre (Werbitt)5/20/2003
Camper/Staffer, period: 1960-1970 (1960-1968)

Hello out there to the many people that I formed friendships with during my years at Lohikan. The memories are both as a camper and then back as a counselor, and all are wonderful. I hated for camp to end each summer and couldn`t wait to pack my trunk for the following season. I loved and remember...The rained out canoe trip down the Delaware, the movie and bowling outings in Hancock with a stop at the two candy stores, the trips on my my days-off to exotic Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. All good.

What a great website. Seeing some of the name from the past really brought back memories; everyone of them great. I guess Gene Sak`s listing has a lot of the names I remember. And after reading all of the other posts, there is not much to say other than those were the best summers of our lives. I would love to hear from any of you “old“ alums. I have a lot of old pictures from back then and will try to post them.

My sister Vivien and I spent many summers in Lake Como. Remember in the old days we had overnight horseback rides. Candyland and movie for the cleanest bunk in Hancock. Olympics and sports all day long! Joe Volpe setting up night watch over the girls` bunks! I progressed from sailing the dingy on the lake to a bigger sailboat in Annapolis. I am now living in the Washington DC area. Greetings to all.
